What is Float Value in CS?

The float value in CS is a hidden number that defines the visual wear of your skin — from Factory New to Battle-Scarred. It ranges between 0.00 (clean) and 1.00 (heavily worn).

Why is Float Important?

Float affects both the appearance and market value of your item. Lower floats look cleaner and often cost more. Many traders specifically look for rare float ranges to maximize value.

Float Wear Categories

  • Factory New: 0.00 – 0.07
  • Minimal Wear: 0.07 – 0.15
  • Field-Tested: 0.15 – 0.38
  • Well-Worn: 0.38 – 0.45
  • Battle-Scarred: 0.45 – 1.00

Some skins have limited float ranges. For example, the AWP | Asiimov can’t drop as Factory New because its float starts higher by design.

How is Float Generated?

Float is randomly assigned when an item is created — either via unboxing, drop, or trade-up. Once set, it never changes. That’s why inspecting float before trading or buying is essential.

How to Check Float?

Use our CS Float Checker tool to instantly view any item’s float value and pattern ID. Paste your inspect link and get real-time results — no login needed.

Advanced Use

Collectors look for ultra-low floats (like 0.0001) or high floats for memes. Others chase specific patterns like “Blue Gem,” which depend on both float and pattern seed.

Understanding float is key to mastering skin valuation and trading in CS. Whether you're a trader, collector, or player who wants clean visuals — float matters.
